Sydney loves her family, teeball (and hates shots!)

On Friday, Sydney had her 2 month checkup, and we found out that she is right in the middle of all the charts. In fact, she is in the 50th percentile, for height, weight and head size! Her doctor thought that she looked very healthy, and she did just fine. Really, the 3 shots she got didn't seem to bother her as much as they did her mom and dad :)

After her appointment, we headed to Georgetown to spend the weekend with our families.

We spent the three days visiting and hanging out with family, playing golf, going to our nephews teeball games, etc.

For the first time, Sydney Grace got to meet her "Frankfort family," including her cousins Mary Pat, Patricia and her husband Jonathan, cousin George, and great aunt Patsy.

It was also the first time for her to meet her great uncle Ronnie, aunt Crystal and second cousin Rachel.

Below are some pictures that highlight her trip.

Sydney Grace meets Avery Nicole

Today, Sydney, Daddy and I traveled to Oldham County to spend the day with our dearest friends Brian and Stacy and their precious daughter Avery. We hadn't seen them since their hospital visit 8 weeks ago, so it was great to spend time catching up with them and also to let our daughters meet.

We got to spend the day visiting, swimming, eating and shopping, and it was a lot of fun! It was also neat to see our daughters "play" together.

Avery Nicole (turned 9 months earlier this week) and Sydney Grace (turned 8 weeks old today) in their early moments together.

The first time for the two Mommies and daughters to take pictures together.

Sydney graduates...

In the past few days, Sydney has graduated from...

Yes, Sydney has successfully moved from taking naps in her lounger to taking naps in her pack n' play (which she has hated to this point!) The biggest news, though, is that as of Saturday night, she has traded in her beloved swing to sleep in her "big girl bed" at night. Daddy and I thought that this switch would be difficult for her, but she has done so well! She has continued her amazing streak, and is still sleeping all the way through the night- 8, 9, 10 hours at a time-basically however long we'll let her. How proud we are of our little princess!

Sydney likes the lake!

This weekend, the three of us went to meet Nana and Grandpa at Dale Hollow State Park.

On Friday, Sydney spent the afternoon with her grandparents, while Mom and Dad went out on on the lake in a pontoon and spent time swimming. We all had dinner together on Friday night and hung out around the lodge. On Saturday, Daddy and Grandpa went to play golf, while the three girls stayed behind at the pool.

It was a very fun weekend, and we look forward to going back again!

Below are some pictures that highlight Sydney's weekend adventure.

All outside the lodge restaurant, and overlooking the beautiful lake.

Brownie really missed Sydney and was glad when we all got home Saturday. Topper (not pictured) was too!

Sydney's First Smile

We've read in several parenting books that a baby's first real smile should come sometime in the 2nd month of his/her life (and that, incidentally, before that, what appears to be a smile is really just gas).

Tonight, Sydney had her first real smile right after Daddy got home from work. Who did she smile at? Daddy? Probably the best guess, but not this time. Mommy? No. One of the dogs? Nope. Another family member or friend? No again.

In fact, Sydney Grace's first smile was at Big Red... her Big Red mobile to be exact. In the matter of a few minutes, she had several smiles for our family's favorite mascot.

Luckily I already had our camera ready to take pictures of her. The pictures below highlight this special event from tonight :)

Her Big Red mobile was actually the first thing I bought when I found out that we were expecting, and the only thing I bought for a few months. I had been eyeing it for at least a couple of years, and it looks like it was a great purchase!

What a beautiful smile-I'm sure it will allow her to get away with lots of things over the next few years.

Sydney goes to Nashville

Today, Sydney and I went to Nashville for a lunch date with Daddy. He surprised us and took us to Maggiano's. Sydney had a lot of fun, and slept through the entire date :)

Sydney and Daddy stopped for a picture as we left the restaurant.

The last few days have seen a couple of exciting "firsts" for Sydney. On Monday, during Tummy Time, she started to hold her head up (for more than a few seconds) for the very first time.

We'll keep working on this to make sure she develops even stronger head control, and learns to push up and eventually start crawling!

Then, Tuesday Sydney had another big acheievement as she took her first nap in her bed. The nap lasted for about 30 minutes, but we'll try to work on nights soon. For now, she's still sleeping all the way through the night in her it's kind of hard to make that switch :)

Sydney misses Daddy (and I do too...)

After 6 weeks of having Daddy at home with both of us, the girls have had a big adjustment in the past few days, as Daddy headed back to work on Thursday, July 5th. Sydney loves her Daddy very much, and is definitely already a Daddy's girl.

We are very thankful for the time he got to have off work!

Sydney got a new playmat since our last post, and is really starting to enjoy playing in it.

She can't use all the neat functions yet, but loves to look at herself in the mirror.

This weekend, we took Sydney to her first movie, Ratatouille. She really enjoyed it, as she slept through the first hour, and rested in Daddy's lap for the second. :)

Sydney goes to Gtown

The past four days have been full of action for Sydney! She ventured out of Warren County for the very first time to visit her grandparents! (both sets) She also got to see her aunt April and uncle Tim, cousins, great aunt and great uncle, other friends..............

Below are some pictures that highlighted our trip!

Sydney got to meet her greatgrandmother (Nanny) for the very first time on Friday! This was a very special time for the two of them, and all of us as well.

Four generations :)

Although Sydney slept in the closet (long story) she slept entirely through the night for the first time on Saturday night. We fed her and put her to bed at 11pm, and had to wake her up at 7:15 am! Let's hope this is a trend that continues!

For the first time, Sydney and Mommy wore their matching "Life is Good" shirts that Daddy got Mommy for Mother's Day. We had the shirts before she was even here, but love wearing them together now!

On Saturday, Sydney ventured to the pool at Cherry Blossom where my parents live, for the very first time. She slept through the event until.......

Mommy and Daddy took her for a quick "swim" in the baby pool. She didn't seem to mind it too much, and there should be a lot of fun days at the pool in her future.

Today, we hung out with Granny and Papa, and Sydney loved spending time with her cousins Makayla (8) and Trace (6). She also got to meet her great aunt Brenda, great uncle Art, and special friends Bonnie, Mae and Jim.

We all three had a great weekend, thanks to everyone we love so much! The only problem is that our daughter is used to being held every second and she's even more spoiled than before :)
