Sydney's Myrtle Beach Trip

On the day after Christmas, Sydney, Jeff and I traveled to Myrtle Beach with Sydney's Papaw, Grandpa, and Nana. While we were there, we all had lots of fun playing with Sydney, shopping, swimming, and even watching some basketball :). We got home last night.

Here are a few pictures from Sydney's latest adventure.

Our hotel had an indoor waterpark, complete with a lazy river! Sydney enjoyed riding in her turtle float!

Sydney with her Papaw before one of the Scott Co. ballgames...I wonder who dressed her? :)

Happy 7 Months!

She just loved to "open" her presents, and play with the paper :)

Today, Sydney Grace turns 7 months old! At this point, it seems like each and every month is passing by faster and faster.

During the past month, we have heard Sydney's first two "words," and she has also successfully switched her to her sippy cup, and stopped spitting up as much(yhea!). There's also been a lot of rolling, scooting sideways and backwards, and even first success at crawling! Our family has had a very blessed month leading up to the holidays as well.

A very special Christmas for Daddy!

A very special Christmas for Mommy too!

Sydney's First Christmas

Merry Christmas from Jeff, Sydney and me! The past few days have been a very special (and busy!) first Christmas for Sydney, as she traveled many miles (about 1000 by ourcount) and got the chance to celebrate with her family at several different special gatherings.

A special family Christmas dinner on Friday night
with her Nana and Grandpa, Mommy and Daddy at Merrick Inn in Lexington.

Merry Christmas in Ohio! Saturday afternoon, Sydney celebrated with her Granny Janet's family... shown here with her great aunt Brenda, great uncle Art and second cousin Kyle.

Saturday night, we celebrated with Mommy's Frankfort family. Shown here are Sydney's cousins Mary Pat and Patricia and Jonathan, and her also "aunts" Ruth and Patsy.

Merry Christmas again on Sunday in West Virgina, with her great grandparents, shown here smiling as she plays with her Nanny.

Sunday night, Sydney opened presents with her Granny and Papaw, aunt and uncle, and (shown here) 3 cousins, Makayla (9), Trace (7) and Lilly Grace (3 1/2 months).

On Christmas Eve, she got to open her packages and celebrate with her Nana and Grandpa.

Before heading home on Monday afternoon, she also spent time with her Papaw's family, including her (shown here with Sydney and Makayla) great grandfather Ralph.

As soon as we got back to town last night, we got to attend the Christmas Eve service at church. Daddy snapped this picture of us before we left for the service.

Christmas morning at home! Sydney loved playing with her new musical table, her gift from her Daddy and me.

Sydney (and Jeff and me) are so fortunate to have spent such precious time together and with our families over the past few days. If you are reading this update, we know that you are someone we love :), and we all three hope that you and your loved ones had a very special Christmas, and will have a wonderful 2008!

Crawling...getting closer and closer

Sydney has been trying to crawl for a few weeks now. She's getting closer and closer, and tonight has been her best attempt so far. We got out the camera for her "practice."

I think her goal is to be crawling by Christmas...it may just happen.

Tonight was our small group Christmas party at Krista and Craig's, and as a part of the kids exchange, Sydney got to "open" her first Christmas gift!

Daddy helped her a little :)

Thanks to Rachel for such a fun bath toy set which I'm sure Sydney will love playing with!

Twas' the week before Christmas

This week, Sydney and I have been enjoying time at home together as I am off work for the next few weeks, and also time running errands to get ready for Christmas and our upcoming trip to Myrtle Beach!

Within the past couple of days, she has also added a new word to her vocabulary-Nana! It's still "dada" mostly, with an occasional "nana," but my only question is-when is it going to be "mama?" :) (Maybe I should change my name)

Christmas at the Opryland

Tonight, the three of us went to Nashville to see the beautiful Christmas decorations at the Opryland Hotel. Jeff and I have done this several times in years past, but it was very special to go this year with Sydney Grace.

Eleven years ago at Christmas, (our first Christmas together) Jeff and I had a picture made in front of the huge poinsetta tree at Opryland. This year, Jeff had two dates :) to have his picture with.

She stopped to smile for us at the outdoor nativity scene.

Even though Sydney won't remember her first Christmas at Opryland, she sure did have fun! She loved seeing the fountains, waterfalls, lights, and all the people! Besides that, the two of us will remember a very special time, and hopefully will be able to tell her all about it someday.

Sydney's First Word-Dada!

For the first time last Wednesday, Sydney said Dada! Since then, we've heard it several (hundred) times :), but finally got out the camera Sunday night to capture it on video!

Hopefully, Mama will come soon!

In other news, Sydney has been busy celebrating Christmas with some of her very special friends this weekend.

With Brian, Stacy and Avery on Saturday.

With several of her college friends at our house on Sunday night: pictured here with Ryan, Kasi, Ashley and Allison. We had an early Christmas party since they will all be leaving to go home for the break later this week.

Merry Christmas Big Red! (And Sydney's first kiss)

Tonight we went to a special open house event on campus, and got to see Sydney's special friend.

Sydney wasn't so sure what to think of Big Red so close at first...

Big Red wanted to hold her, but his mouth kind of got in the way :)

Finally, he decided to hold Sydney in his mouth!

Our friends Cortney, Laurie and Simon went tonight as well, and look what happened in front of all the parents!

We hear from everyone how fast Sydney will grow up, but still a first kiss seems a bit premature at 6 1/2 months.

That Simon Vance Basham is a fine young fellow :), but I'm sure Daddy will be keeping a close eye on him from now on!

New Things...

First drink from a sippy cup. Not as messy as we thought!

Sydney's bathtime moved from the sink into the big tub. She wasn't a fan at first, but finally decided it was fun to play with her rubber ducky.

In the lobby at church before the Christmas program on Saturday night. Daddy loved the cider and cookies, and Sydney loved playing with his red napkin.

Six month doctor visit

Yesterday was Sydney's six month doctor visit. We found out that she now weighs 16 lbs, 4 oz, is 26.5 inches long, and still has a large head :) These measurements put her in the 60th percentile for weight, 75th for height, and 90th for head size. She got a very good overall health report from her doctor and all the shots she needed. The best news (to her) was that she doesn't have to get any more shots for 6 months!

This big smile was in the waiting room, before the shots.

Here are a few other pictures from this week:

Sydney and Mommy wearing our matching Christmas light shirts in front of our tree!

One of her favorite new hobbies, "flying" with her Daddy.

Riding...through the hallway at home, in her new umbrella stroller...with the rain cover:)
