This is a shot of our little girl sleeping on her Daddy on Christmas Day. This is a REAL treat and precious moment for us since it never really happens. Sydney is a very good sleeper, always has been, but she is not one who will fall asleep in a stroller, or on our laps. We can't remember the last time something like this did happen, but we think it was sometime LAST basketball season during a game at Diddle.
Saturday we had beautiful weather in BG...you don't often get 70 degrees in late December! It was very windy, but Sydney didn't care one bit. We took advantage of the warm day and took Sydney Grace for a spin in her new wagon. This was a special Christmas gift from her Granny and Papaw and she loves it! When she opened it and Papaw put it together, she didn't want to get out, even to open presents. I'm sure it will be even more fun for her in a few months once her baby brother is old enough to ride in it with her!
So, what is the celebration ride all about? Sydney pee-peed in the potty tonight!!!! Today is the first day that we had the potty out and began our official training....AND on her second try she had success!!! At first when she saw it, she said "uh oh," but we assured her that this was a very good thing.
A few minutes later, we went back to the potty to try again and as I was reading her "Big Girl Potty" book she was able to do #2!!!
Before bed, her Daddy asked her if she wanted to potty one more time before bed and she said yes and ran to her potty. About 10 seconds after she sat down, she was able to pee-pee again!
Sydney turned 19 months old yesterday. We know that this success is only the beginning of potty training our girl but we are very proud of her first steps toward becoming diaper-free!
The celebration ride above shows our very proud girl holding her "uppy" book, which she was reading when the first success came. Also, she is holding the cookie we rewarded her with :) One more thing...no clothes on-haha! A snapshot of the success. This picture could be slightly embarrassing to SG in her teenage years-hopefully she will forgive us.
Christmas has been extra special this year as we have tried to take in every moment of our 2nd year celebrating as a family of three. Sydney is old enough to really enjoy the Christmas season of celebration and we are excitedly awaiting our 2nd miracle from God in April-baby brother! 2009 will bring our fourth family member and a whole new set of adventures. In the meantime, the three of us have had a wonderful time of gathering with family and special friends over the past few days and now we are back at home spending a fun day together. Here are some photos that highlight our 2nd Christmas with our beautiful, silly and fun little girl. Her special gift that was waiting for her by the tree this morning. She jumped right on and loves it! Giving her Elmo ("Elmi") a BIG!!!! squeeze and hug at Nana and Buddy's Taking a spin in her new wagon from Granny and Papaw...she loves it and did not want to get out, even to open presents. Feeding and hugging her new babies Unwrapping, aka "open!" presents was a highlight for Sydney this week! Waiting for her next turn to open, while playing with her Backyardigan music player/mic. Confused look...why won't my trike fit in my cottage? Afterall, Dada did!
Sydney and I have been trying to make the most of our time this week in getting Christmas shopping and chores finished, while we also wrapped up a few other odds and ends. However, the most fun was the time we spent shopping for my little man/"brod-er"...it is so new and so fun to go to the "other" side of my favorite store(s) to look for the clothes he will wear in just a few short weeks that I'm sure will be flying by.
Those who know me well know that I love to shop, and I love to shop for my girl! Now I'm excited to look for some blue to go along with that pink I'm so used to. So...I'm going to show some of his new wardrobe off...here's a sample of what he'll be sporting soon:
Yesterday, Sydney's much anticipated potty arrived! We have been reading about and talking about the potty for a while now. Although our official training hasn't started just yet, it looks like she is finding a way to put it to good use.
For the past few days, Sydney has been on an adventure visiting with her grandparents (both sets) as Jeff and I embarked on an adventure of our own. We went on our very first cruise Thursday-Monday with the Navigator of the Seas (Royal Caribbean ship). It was an adventure in several ways...first time for us on a cruise, first trip as just the two of us in almost two years, and (biggest of all) first time away from Sydney Grace overnight. Sydney apparently had a great time with her grandparents and it was a great time for the two of us on the ship!
Last night was the best moment of all when we got to see our girl after being apart for several days. Sydney was well taken care of and is so lucky to have such wonderful grandparents who are anxious to spend time with her. Jeff and I are so lucky to share the special relationship that we do...we've been together for (getting close to) 13 years now and I can't imagine a better husband or friend to "cruise" through life with.

(Looking up) ...A picture of the beautiful dining room
Our ship was so big, it was hard to capture it all in one photo, so this is a picture I took of a postcard we purchased. This ship has 14 floors (above water), a capacity of 4,000 with every activity, theater, area imaginable. It is the 2nd largest ship afloat.
Two happy cousins during Sydney's time with her Granny and Papaw
