More new words

Sydney has really been expanding her vocabulary lately. In the last few days, she has learned to say "All gone," "baby" (has said this for a few weeks), and "cat." Other words she can say at 13 months: Dada, Momma, Dog, That, ByeBye, No (usually says NoNo), Yhea, Yay, Ball, UhOh, Nana, "Tickle, tickle, tickle" (always three "tickle"s together). She will say "Hi" but only when prompted to do so.

Fun at the Circus!

Yesterday, Sydney got to go to her first circus, along with Mommy, Daddy, Papaw, Granny, aunt April, uncle Tim, and her three cousins, Makayla, Trace, and Lilly who were all returning from their vacation in Florida. This was a free circus held in downtown BG in celebration of the new Circus Square Park. There were no elephants or tigers, but plenty of acrobats and clowns. Here are some pictures that highlight her fun afternoon.

Watching the circus with her Granny and Papaw.

Sydney pointing as she did several times while enjoying the performance.

Cousins Lilly and Sydney saying "Hi" :)

In other fun this weekend, on Friday, Sydney and I went to story time at the library. She paid attention during the stories very well ...most of the time!

"Uh Oh" Spaghetti'o's :)

Today our beautiful Sydney turns 13 months old! Here are some pictures of her from a couple of days ago as she feeds herself. I'm glad I decided to strip her down to the diaper before the spaghetti o fun began! :)

Watch the progression from A-I'm really excited to hold the spoon; B-I'm using the spoon even if it's upside down; finally C-forget the spoon!

"Tickle, Tickle, Tickle..."

SGM riding in the golf cart for the first time with Daddy

We're pretty impressed with Sydney's newest word(s)-"tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle." She started saying this last week, repeating what her daddy has been saying to her for the last year as he tickles her. This is by far the most complicated word she is saying at this point, but it's very distinct. She is also beginning to stand by herself for a few moments at a time, without leaning on anything else. Her latest is that she is not at all content with us feeding her from the spoon at all...it's either she feeds herself, or she doesn't eat it.

Below are some more pictures from her weekend.

Enjoying the rocking chair that has been enjoyed by three other little girls during the past 80+ years...Mommy, Nana, and Nanny.

Enjoying some time playing in the baby pool at her grandparents neighborhood pool.

Celebrating her Grandpa's retirement at a special celebration held on Sunday afternoon in his honor. Many family members, and special friends were in attendance.

Father's Day (#2) and Anniversary (#8)!

On Sunday, we celebrated Jeff's second Father's Day along with our 8th wedding anniversary!

Grandpa (and Nana) were also here to celebrate Father's Day with Sydney!

Later in the afternoon, Daddy and Sydney put on their US Open attire, and watched the excitement of the US Open!

New word, new tooth, same beautiful smile!

Sydney's new word this week-"Ball!"

All of the words she can say now are very clear. We're still working on "Hi" (instead of ByeBye for everything), as well as many others of course.

Sydney's new tooth this week-her seventh! This is her first tooth in a couple of months, and is on the bottom, just beside of the front right.

Coming up this weekend...Sydney spends the day tomorrow with her Grandpa and Nana while Mommy and Daddy visit Holiday World and the Splashin' Safari waterpark, and Sunday she'll celebrate Father's Day AND our 8th anniversary with us!

12 month checkup

Today was Sydney Grace's 12 month checkup! Everything (except those three shots) went really well, and her doctor was happy with all of her progress. In becoming more active, she has slimmed down a bit, which he said was to be expected at this age. Here are her stats:

19 lb, 6 oz about 25th percentile
28 1/2 inches between 25-50th percentile
Big head 100 percentile

Her doctor was very happy to hear about the variety of foods she is eating. Here is a list of some the foods Sydney is enjoying eating: bread, macaroni and cheese, cereal bars, cheese, ham, turkey, pulled pork, potato salad, graham crackers, fruit snacks, grilled cheese, baked beans, crackers, all fruits except bananas (especially likes grapes and watermelon), hamburger, yogurt, peanut butter, pimento cheese, most vegetables (not especially crazy about mashed or baked potato), eggs, french fries, more...

She quickly got over the pain involved with the shots as we took Daddy to the pool with us for the first time this summer! Below are some pictures of SGM enjoying her time at the pool earlier this week.

Let's play outside!

So many new toys to play with outside, and such beautiful weather to do so!

Sydney's stroller is no longer her preferred mode of transportation...not even close.

Look who's got a swing in her own backyard now!

Splish, splash! Playing water table is lots of fun too, as evidenced by SGM's soaking wet clothes!

Pigeon Forge Trip

This weekend, the three of us took a trip to Pigeon Forge, along with some of our closest friends and their families. We traveled with the Linns, the Hunts, the Grahams, the McNabbs, and the Degenharts. In all, there were 12 adults and 13 kiddos :) We stayed in a large cabin right outside of Pigeon Forge, and enjoyed the beautiful mountains, swimming, shopping, playing games, the Dixie Stampede show, and more...so many pictures to post, but here are a few highlights of Sydney's trip.

Sydney got to ride the train! She really had fun, and so did we :)

We watched several of the others ride gocarts.

Sydney and Mommy outside Dixie Stampede with one of the horses. (During the show, Sydney loved watching the horses, cows, birds, pigs, and she even enjoyed some of the yummy food.)

Swinging at the cabin with her friends Samuel (McNabb), Noah (Graham) and Avery (Linn).

"Hi Isabel and Mattie!"

Several of the kids taking a break at "The Track" on Saturday night.
We all had a great time and it was so nice to hang out the entire weekend with friends who are as close as family!
