Summer...absolutely FLYING by!

Summer is flying by, and I have the feeling the next couple of weeks are going to pass by even faster.

Sydney Grace and I have been at the pool a lot this week...our public schools in BG start next week, so this is the last week that our pool will be open on weekdays.

Her first time to McDonald's! Last night, Jeff had to work late and Sydney and I ran some errands and stopped for an ice cream. Our girl loves ice cream! McDonald's ice cream was NOT her favorite, but she still enjoyed our strawberry sundae.

Sydney and Avery at Kentucky Lake

Dinner on Saturday night at Patti's 1880's settlement.

We spent the weekend with Brian, Stacy and Avery at Kentucky Dam Village. Sydney and Avery had such a fun time :) and are both growing up so fast! Through the weekend and as she spent time with Avery, Sydney has been walking more and more. She is probably walking about 95% of the time now. When she got home last night, she was walking all through the house with that big head, her arms waving around, skinny little legs going as hard as they could, and big tummy sticking out as she was smiling/laughing and saying "tickle, tickle, tickle." She is so proud of herself, and truly believes that now she is a "big girl."

The girls were not so sure what to think about the clown we visited after the magic show.

Guess who's walking now?!?!

"My Next Thirty Years..."

...My favorite artist Tim McGraw sings a song with that title...I've been 30 for a week now, and it isn't so bad after all :) Hitting a new milestone agewise has given me time to reflect on all that God has blessed me with during the first 30 years he's given me-a Christian husband and soul mate, a beautiful and healthy daughter, a wonderful family, fabulous friends, a church family I love, a teaching job I love (at a place so dear to me) where I can connect with my students through my relationship with him, and the blessing to live in this free country, along with so much more. I am anxiously looking forward to see what he has in store for me in "my next thirty years."

Here are a few fun things that have filled the last week for our family.

Matching girly shoes... Sydney's first pair of crocs, and mine too. Hers have glitter, mine don't!

More new shoes for Sydney Grace and some for Daddy too.

Feeding the ducks at the park (round 2)! However, this time was different since Sydney knows to say "duck" and "kack, kack, kack" back at them. Shown here, SGM "samples" the half stale :) bread.

One of her favorite things to do...being thrown into the air by Daddy.

Tomorrow we leave to spend the weekend with the Linn's at Kentucky times ahead!

Sydney's first VBS

This week, the 7 couples in our small group hosted a backyard VBS for the Burmese community in Bowling Green, in the courtyard area of their apartment complex off Lovers Lane. Most of the families attend Living Hope with us. In addition to our children who participated in the festivities, we had over 50 Burmese children, ages (younger than) 2-18, attend the VBS. Each night we had a bible story lesson, singing, craft and snack. It was a special experience for all of us who got to be involved.

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Sydney had a fun day as she spent the day with her Mommy as they celebrated her Mommy's birthday. Below is a picture of Sydney's first carousel ride. Daddy and Sydney say, Happy Birthday Mommy!

Blue Eyes :)

Sydney has been staying busy this week, going to the pool and playing lots at home. She's taking a few more steps on her own (just one or two at a time), but spending lots of time pushing her walker all over the house...from the back, the front and the side :)

A few weeks ago, Daddy introduced her to "The Backyardigans" on Nickelodeon and she really enjoys watching them. She dances and claps and sings as she watches, and we both really have a big time watching her enjoy it so much. Her newest "word" is Quack ----like a duck----but SGM's sounds more like "gack, gack, gack, gack."

Her favorite game right now is the phone goes something like this...We "answer" her Big Bird cell phone, tell her it's for her and that Big Bird wants to talk to her. She says "hello" and then a bunch of gibber gabber into the phone :) Sometimes, she brings the phone to us (as if she's telling us that Big Bird wants to talk to us)...and, of course, we love to play along. While I have been typing this post, she took her phone to Topper-I supposed Big Bird likes him too :)

Time with Family

At the Reds game with Daddy. (We did not get a picture of Sydney eating her first Sundae Helmet, but the chocolate sauce ended up all over us and her shirt.)

Sydney and I spent all of last week in Georgetown, visiting family and having lots of fun. Daddy got to join us on Wednesday night after he finished work for the week. During the week, Sydney got to attend her first Cincinnati Reds game and a swim meet of her cousin's Makayla and Trace. She got to play with her cousin Lilly, visit her great grandmother on her 82nd birthday and (for the first time), watch fireworks on the 4th of July! She also fit in some swimming, a retirement luncheon, a baseball game that her cousin Trace played in, and more :) She was a busy girl!

Granny bought Sydney and Lilly matching outfits for the 4th.

Showing Mommy where to watch the fireworks :)

The three (girl) cousins had fun at the pool.

Hope everyone else out there had as nice of a holiday as we did!

Happy 4th of July!

Update: 11:11 pm-Sydney took her first couple of steps on her OWN today in celebration of the 4th of July! More (steps) coming soon, hopefully!
