Sydney's Big Announcement

If we haven't gotten to tell you the news in person over the past couple of days, then now you know!!! Sydney will be a big sister on or about April 17, 2009. Of course, we are very excited!
We are 10 1/2 weeks along and all is going well. We had our first appointment and ultrasound with Dr. Gass on Friday, and here are the first two photos of the newest member of our family, Sydney Grace's little sister or brother.

Finally...our own football home opener

Several weeks into football season, WKU finally opened up our newly renovated stadium on Saturday, and celebrated with a pounding of Murray State.

Sydney and Mommy in our seats...she only had about 100 compliments on her new dress.

Tailgating=good food! Sydney and Simon shared a few :) cheese puffs at tailgating with our friend Laurie

Trying to makes sure she gets the most out of the whole tailgating experience...

Hike...1, 2...this shot was taken right before SGM launched the long ball to her friend Claire

Elephants and hugs...

We took Sydney to the Ringling Brothers circus at Diddle on Wednesday night. We all enjoyed the show, and Sydney Grace especially liked the animal acts. Doggies and elephants were her favorites!

Look who passed Sydney and Daddy on the way inside...

Yesterday, Jeff and I got to attend the opening round of the Ryder Cup at Valhalla in Louisville, and Sydney spent the day with her Granny and Papaw in Georgetown.

Hanging out with a book on her grandparents bed

Happy to meet one of her Granny's new calves (Granny told us that Sydney had her own name for this calf---"Doggy"...imagine that!)

Another familiar site lately-Sydney giving out hugs. She was saving her hugs for us and her favorite stuffed animals/babies, but we've learned in the last couple of days that she has been giving hugs to BOYS when we aren't around to watch. Her Daddy had a talk with her about this earlier this morning...:)

Birthday Milestones

This past weekend was a time to celebrate birthdays! We visited family in Georgetown and celebrated with Sydney's cousin Lilly, and also Sydney's great grandfather Ralph.

Sydney with her Daddy and great grandfather at his 90th birthday celebration on Saturday. Unfortunately, SGM wasn't feeling well with a high fever, so we didn't let her get too close...

Welcome football!

Football season is officially here, and both of Sydney's teams (Toppers and Titans) won this weekend! The Toppers blew out former rival EKU, and the Titans beat the Jags in a typical Titan-style nail biter.

On Friday we went for Sydney Grace's 15 month appointment. She is a very healthy little girl, and we are so thankful for that. Here are her latest stats: 21 1/2 pounds (25th percentile); 30 1/2 inches (50th percentile); large head (around 95th+ percentile). This was the first Dr. visit where we experienced any type of fit, but Sydney was not happy about any of the following: stepping on the scale, being measured (body or head), or those two shots...who could blame her though?!

In the past couple of weeks, Sydney has been in the process of getting four new teeth, two on the top and two on the bottom. She now has a total of 11!

Sydney in St Louis

On Friday, Jeff, Sydney and I took off for a three day visit to St Louis! We had a great time and visited many places. This was Sydney's first time to St Louis, and Jeff and I hadn't been in several years. We visited the St Louis Zoo, Grant's Farm, and the Budweiser world headquarters. Sydney had a lot of fun, and saw many "doggies" during our visit. (She's readily recognizes "ducks" and "birds," but every other animal, whether Clydesdale horses, elephants, hippos, ....is a "doggie!") Anyway, here are some highlights from Sydney's latest adventure.

One of Sydney's favorite things was our visit to the children's zoo area, where she did several things, including petting/hugging :), etc. baby goats.

Also in the children's zoo area...petting a guinea pig

And, also at the zoo, she enjoyed riding the carousel with her Daddy

As you can see, Sydney had a great view to see all of the animals, even when it got crowded.

This giraffe gave us a perfect pose to snap a shot!

During the Budweiser plant tour...while here, we learned about the history of the company, toured their amazing facility, and even "met" some of the official world famous Clydesdale horses (aka "doggies")who are used in all their promotions.

On Saturday night we had a a pizza picnic at one of the city parks, "Sculpture Park." Here we are in front of one of the hundred or so sculptures at this park.

On Sunday, we visited Grant's Farm, former home of Ulysses S. Grant. It now is a wildlife refuge and petting zoo area for over 1,000 animals. We enjoyed the whole weekend, but this was our favorite stop!

First, we rode on a tram through the 100-acre area where the animals roam free. Some of them were very close to our tram, including this Texas Longhorn seen in our picture.

Sydney and I fed a bottle of milk to a baby goat or two :)...Avery, we thought of you!

Sydney really liked this llama at Grant's Farm, who kept walking back and forth in front of us as he was expecting a snack!
