The Sweetest Dog I've Ever Known...

The sweetest, kindest, best natured dog I've ever known will only live here with us for a few more weeks. Our Topper is going to live with our best friends the Linn's here very soon. Soon, we will be moving, and our new home would not be able to provide him with many of the things he is used to.

Topper has been an amazing part of our family for 4 1/2 years. My fondest memories are of watching how wonderful/tolerant/sweet he has been with Sydney in her first two years, enjoying him play with his friends Chloe and Reagan, walking miles and miles with him in this neighborhood, and just getting to enjoy such a special animal.

This has been a very hard decision, but we do feel so good about the fact that he is going to be in such a great family. We couldn't ask for a better home for him. Plus, we will get to see him when we go visit. Even though it is so hard for us, we are so HAPPY for Topper-it is the kind of family, home, life, yard that he so deserves :)! These are the reasons we know this is the hard, yet right decision.

We are REALLY going to miss him. (I know Sydney will not forget her buddy very soon at all, and I can just hear her asking "where toppy is?") I can't type this post without tears streaming down my face. I will miss his sweet disposition and how gentle he has been around Sydney (and now JJ). I will miss watching Sydney telling him "nite nite Toppy," and giving him hugs. I will miss the opportunity to watch JJ grow through crawling and walking stage with Topper watching. I will miss the fact that our kids won't get to grow up with him being our family dog. But mostly, I will just miss him being here with us.

I love you dear buddy, but I want you to have the best life. You have always been the best dog for us.

Pool Double Date

Over the weekend, we got to go to the pool with our friends Cortney, Laurie, Simon and Naomi. Sydney and Simon are special friends, and always enjoy their time together. AND, what could be better on a hot summer day than the pool, and a picnic with peanut butter sandwiches and pretzels???

So while, Sydney and Simon enjoyed playing and eating, JJ and his date Naomi took a snooze in the shade.

Yesterday, we took Sydney on her first visit to Holiday World! We had been talking it up to her for several weeks and she was very excited about going to "world." Here are some pictures of our adventure there.

Loved the bumper boats---especially when she bumped into other kiddos!

Not so sure about the planes!?!?

Ok, maybe she was sure...and she was SURE she didn't like the planes.

Fun with Daddy too!

Her favorite attraction was the "Jungle Jets," a big area with sprayers of all sorts where she could run around, get soaked, etc. She played here for well over 2 hours and would've loved to for even longer.

She also liked floating with us in the lazy river.
AND, at the end of the day...

The Best Daddy...

is OURS!

Daddy with his two kiddos!

First Father's Day with his baby boy!
We love you Daddy! Thank you for everything you do for us. We have had a very Happy Father's Day at church, lunch, watching golf together, and going to the pool with you...
Love, Sydney & JJ

Growing Fast

We took JJ to his 2 month appointment yesterday, and we were blessed with a great health report. As far as his measurements, he is putting on the weight and growing longer too! The scales showed exactly 12 lb, which puts him in the 70th percentile for weight. The measuring tape showed 23 1/4 inches, which puts him in the 75th percentile for height. AND, his head measured large :) and in between the 75th and 90th percentile. He hated the shots and screamed louder for all three of them than I can ever remember Sydney screaming...!

In the past few nights, JJ has moved from sleeping in his bouncer to just sleeping on his own in his crib. He is doing well, although after a month of sleeping right through the night, a couple of nights this week he did wake up around 3am and I fed him-"no more" says Dr Chris!!!

He enjoys the Big Red mobile just like Sydney did, and she is also glad that it has reappeared! ("Again, red again!")

Speaking of bedtime, a couple of weeks ago Sydney started wanting to sleep with a football...yes, a football. She cracks us up as we imagine most little girls wanting to sleep with their baby dolls or stuffed animals. Not Sydney...she makes sure she is holding onto her toy football and a play bottle of shampoo that came with one of her bath toys. Every night when we leave her room, she is holding onto them under the covers.

Two Months and Smiling!

Tomorrow, JJ turns two months old and is showing us some of the cutest smiles you'll see!

He is doing great and we'll see more about his growth at his appointment on Friday. Since he turned 4 weeks old, he has been sleeping through the night...typically he sleeps from about 8:30 to 7:00 am, sometimes gets up as early as 6:30, sometimes sleeps as late as 8:00! (We never thought we would have a baby who slept as well as Sydney...so far he does!.)

Speaking of smiles, here's his happy sister:

JJ has seen several firsts in the last few days: first trip away from home overnight, first smiles, first ride in a golf cart!!!, and more. We visited our family in Georgetown over the weekend, and here are some of the highlights.

JJ in the golf cart, as Daddy and Buddy dream of future golf to be played with our little man!

JJ and Sydney with their 3 cousins!

Sydney and her cousin Lilly who had a big time playing at the pool and at Lilly's house on Friday.

We also had a special Father's Day cookout (a week early) with Buddy and Papaw! And a few days early, Happy Father's Day Papaw! Happy Father's Day Buddy! Thanks for loving our kids and us so much!

The beginnings of JJ's precious smiles have been so cute...more pictures on that to come soon, I'm sure :)
PS: Happy 9th Anniversary sweetheart! I love you more every day! God has given us so many wonderful memories in 13 years, and here's hoping he blesses us with the health to enjoy many, many more June 15th's.

Sydney's Two Year Checkup

Our little girl got a great health report today at her 2 year checkup. She didn't mind being weighed. She did not want to be measured, until she was persuaded with promises of a special bracelet:). She weighed in at 26 lb (45th percentile), measured 34.75 inches tall (75th percentile), and large head in the 95th percentile. She only had one shot and did okay with it, mainly just cried at the anticipation.
Here are a couple of pictures we got of Sydney and JJ together this morning.
