JJ and Sydney both logged several hundred miles in their car seats this past weekend as the four of us headed out of town for visits with family & friends.
We left for Georgetown on Thursday and the kids got to visit with all of their grandparents, aunt and uncle and play with their two cousins as "cousin Trace" was at church camp.
Friday, the kids and I travelled with Nana to Carter Caves State Park, past Morehead, so that JJ's great grandparents could meet him for the first time. We had a wonderful lunch and fun time watching Sydney play on the playground at the park. Here is JJ with his great grandmother, Nanny
In between times of travel in the van, Sydney wanted to travel in another vehicle of sorts...I think she found a way to fit in 3 rides in Buddy's golf cart.
Saturday morning, we headed to Powell Co, where our friends Brian, Stacy and Avery got to show us their brand new home...they just moved in last week!!!! The best part of that visit is that we found out that they are expecting their 2nd child in late February '10. Sydney wants a girl, JJ wants a boy! They'll have to wait til October to find out.
Although it was a great visit, it was also a little sad because we left our Topper behind when we left that afternoon...however, reports are that he is doing very well and is already becoming a "country dog," complete with adventures with bunny rabbits, deer and wild turkey :) We are thrilled for our buddy!
Saturday afternoon we drove from Powell County to London to try and catch 2 of our nephew Trace's all star baseball games. We had bad luck as it rained out both of them and we only saw 1/2 inning of baseball. So instead, we played at the hotel room with Granny and Papaw, enjoying fun things like:
resting with Papaw on the bed AND
eating applesauce with Granny AND
playing the "who can scream the loudest while acting silly in the mirror game" with cousin Lilly.
It was a fun but very exhausting weekend...we got home late Saturday night!

When we picked Sydney up from the nursery yesterday, our favorite nursery worker gave us the following report...(smiling)..."Sydney has really taken charge back there. She's definitely the ringleader and she bosses all the others around. She never stops talking." Sounds like our girl to me...
Coming soon: Pictures from our weekend of statewide travels...

Lately, JJ has been learning more about what it means to play, and is especially enjoying his time in the play gym. Actually, at the moment, he is done playing and has fallen asleep in the play gym :)
(I have a video to post but am having technical difficulties at the moment, maybe Jeff can help when he gets home) And last night I ran across this picture from late April...
I thought "look at those skinny legs and ALL that hair." He is not so skinny (legs or anywhere) anymore, and he has still has some hair, but has lost so much of it too. He is a really sweet little boy to hang out with, even on a rainy, nasty day like today. (...mid July, are you kidding me? This feels like October!)

I get to share the "17th" calendar day with my little boy. His day is April 17th, and mine July 17th...today JJ turned 3 months old, while his Mommy turned 31
At 3 months, JJ has recently discovered his hands & really "turns on" the smiles for games of "peekaboo!" Like an alarm clock, he sleeps from right at 830 to 730 each night, almost to the minute. He is still losing his hair, especially on the sides. Over the past month, he has grown into 3-6 mo clothing and is even wearing a few things that are 6-9 mo-he is REALLY growing and growing fast!
My birthday this year was a very special one, as I got to spend it with Jeff, Sydney, JJ and my parents who came to town to celebrate with us. We enjoyed the picture perfect weather at the pool, had a nice dinner at Rafferty's and then headed over to check up on the construction of our house...things are really moving. Here are a couple pictures from the house tonight up on the 2nd floor:

Thursday night we took Sydney and JJ to their first Bowling Green Hot Rods game. It was a very warm night, but we had nice seats in the shade.
JJ slept most of the time, but woke up to take it all in for a while.
Sydney was excited to see "Axle" (team mascot) as long as he stayed a good distance away. When we got closer (at her request) she soon changed her tune ..."Mama, I don't want him; " and "I don't wanna five!" (high five)
Goodnight from our little baseball man :)
