We got our SNOW!

We got our snow last night into this morning...haven't heard an official total yet but it is definitely somewhere in the the 5-7 inch range. That is just HUGE for us!

JJ's first time in the snow

The fluffiness of this snow made building a snowman very challenging because it just wouldn't pack. SO, we made a "baby snowman"(err, uh, basically a snowman head)...Sydney did not care-she loved it anyway.

After playing outside at our house this morning, we took a break before piling on the layers again. Then we headed to Craig and Krista's with some of our friends to try out the new sled! She loved that...and kept telling me this afternoon..."Mommy, we had fun." We sure did!

Hopefully I will have pictures to share later of our sledding adventures-I did not take my camera, but our friend Kim did.

Waiting for ...

We are ready...we want some serious snow! Sydney is so pumped... so are my students! Snow is a rare thing here, in 2008, we got 4 inches and that was the most BG had seen in 10 years! AND although all the stores in BG have sold out of sleds, our friend Charles is delivering one he found in Nashville to Jeff at work right now. Craig & Krista have a great place for us to use it. I am really hoping this snow is not another bust...

Measuring Progress

While it is hard to believe, JJ turned 9 months old last week! He is sitting up, getting into position to crawl (yet content to stay put) and playing more with toys. In the past few days, his third tooth has broken through.

We took him to his nine month checkup on Friday. He measured at 23 lb and 2 ounces (a little under 90th percentile for weight), 29.5 inches (90th percentile for height), and head size in the 95th percentile. He is a healthy big little guy!

We are also measuring progress of a different kind around here...Sydney is having lots of success using the potty! We are marking progress with Dora stickers on a 2010 Chick-fil-A calendar :) which is a concept she has really bought into! Of course, she is not fully tranined yet, and we know it will continue to be a work in progress... but she is using her potty multiple times in a day. Her attitude has certainly shifted and she is excited about her success! Here's hoping her (and our) continued work in this area will continue to = progress!

Right Now

This is what my JJ is doing right at this moment. He LOVES the Jumperoo. He loves it so much that sometimes I look over and he has jumped til he can't jump anymore, and he has dozed off to sleep.

I cherish having time to capture here the "normal" things that are going on with our kids..this is only one of the one million reasons I love my job.

AND...Happy Birthday to my awesome friend Stacy!

Going Somewhere?

Lately, JJ looks like he's ready to go somewhere, but I'm pretty sure it's still going to be a while before he gets his (big little) body in gear to crawl.

Look how well he is sitting up!

His favorite thing to do while sitting up is watch big sister. She loves having an admirer since this means constant attention. I am anxious to see what she will think when he is chasing and following her instead of just watching her...

Dressing up

One of the gifts we gave Sydney for Christmas was a princess dress up trunk. She opened it, and left it sitting in the same spot for about a week...not really showing any interest. But, this weekend, she wanted to open it and now she LOVES it. Here, she models the contents of the dress up trunk...

Is that Snow White or Sydney?

Cinderella!

Sleeping Beauty or Sydney Grace?

We love spending time with "our princess"

Favorite Places

Sydney has a list of favorite places to be. The list includes "upstairs" at home (this is where all her toys are), church, Diddle Arena (for basketball and to see Red) and the Rainforest Cafe in Nashville. We have lately discovered coupons and kids night at the Rainforest, and we went twice in December. A couple days after Christmas, we went to the Rainforest with my parents and later went to see the Rockettes at the Opry House.

This time we got to sit in front of some of the "fishies" which she was very happy about!

Here are Daddy and JJ before the Rockettes show. Both kids were so good during the show, even though it did not even started and 8...almost bedtime. Sydney was fascinated and really never took her eyes off the stage. (If you asked her what her favorite part of the "special Christmas show" was, she would tell you the "dancing teddy bears and Santa and Snowman." My favorite part is the living nativity!) JJ was good, but slept on Daddy for at least half the show.

Christmas 2009: It was the best so far! We hope that all of our friends and family have had a wonderful Christmas and holiday season over the past few weeks.
