I have given our sweet boy a new nickname. Jeff likes it too and is also calling him by this name. The's so fitting for him.

He loves the pool, mainly his pool float. He bounces, make waves, splashes, plays with toys & laughs in it. At times, he even takes naps on this float.

He loves it in the baby pool, and the big pool too. He would stay in it for hours and hours, and then a while longer.

People at the pool are constantly talking about how cute he is, how good, how happy & sweet.

So, at least for the summer of 2010, he has become "turtle" to us. We love him so much!

3rd year of growth

Sydney's 3 year checkup was a few weeks ago, and her growth reflects in the following stats:
Weight : 31 lbs, a little below 50%tile
Height : 38 inches, between 50 and 70%tile

One sad thing was that they apparently stop measuring head size at the three year mark :) We always looked forward to hearing about her large head! They replaced this check with blood pressure check, and hers was very good.

Her doctor was so happy that he had not seen her (for an office visit) since her 2 year checkup and told us how rare that was.

She did get 3 shots, but pretty much took them like a champ, since she understood "I get shots so I don't get sick." The Minnie Mouse stickers and bracelets she "earned" didn't hurt either!

Swim Lessons

Sydney has been taking some swimming lessons this summer at the family pool we belong to. Her teacher Katie is a lifeguard at the pool, on the WKU swim team, and was one of my students a few years ago. She was the kind of student that makes it so much fun for me to be in the classroom. And, now I have gotten to see her interact in such a special way with my daughter. She even let Sydney pick special bracelets (Silly Bands) when she made certain accomplishments. Sydney always wants to look for Katie as soon as we get to the pool. She has really enjoyed "swimming with Katie" this summer. Champion swimmer? Well of course not! But for a 3 year old, she has really made some progress.

Kicking those legs, going all the way under the water, blowing bubbles, using her arms...these are some of the things she has been learning.

And while I (we) have tried to do our own thing with JJ and "not watch," we have had fun watching them from a distance.

GO Sydney GO!

Daddy's Day

Yesterday was a great day to celebrate Daddy!

We went to church, had a nice lunch and went to the pool.
It was pretty much perfect.

Navy and white were our colors of choice yesterday and Daddy & JJ received many compliments on their matching outfits.

Last night, Sydney and Daddy continued their tradition (4th year now) of watching the US Open together. Phil did not win, but we enjoyed it anyway!

They love you so much Jeff! Thanks for being such a great Daddy every day of the year!

"10" years ago today I married you, my best friend and partner in this life. There are so many reasons that I love you. There are so many things about you that I am thankful for...but in celebration of "10" years, I have tried to narrow down to the top "10." It is a real challenge to put these in order, so some may not be exactly.

10. You are supportive, dependable & you spoil me. (I think that is really three) :)
9. You make me a better person.
8. You are a man of character.
7. You love serving (alongside me too) in a ministry (and group of kids) we both love very much.
6. Your job is just that to you-a job. You make sacrifices (and drive lots of miles in the process!) to give us more time, have more fun, and create more memories with you.
5. You love and cherish our children so much.
4. You are my best friend.
3. You are the best father to our kids that I could imagine. You are such a good role model for them by living out what/how a father should be.
2. You love me, no matter what.
1. You love the Lord and lead our family in our walk as we grow closer to him.

I love you so much. Happy 10 years! May He give us 50, 60, 70 ?! more in this life.

A couple of people who know both my daughter and me pretty well told me today that they have decided Sydney is A LOT like me. Their explanation?

She is always excited about something coming up.

She always wants to know the plans.

She asks a lot of questions.

She likes to be in charge.

And how do they figure that resembles me, I wonder? :)

Go figure.

3rd Birthday Celebration

Sydney's 3rd birthday party("Minnie Party") was something she had been talking about for months, several months. We had great weather, and she had a very special time with a group of people that love her a lot! It is a joy to celebrate with her, and I'm just so thankful that she is such a happy and healthy little girl!

Here are a few of the moments we captured from her special day:
