Sesame Street Live (and SKYPAC)

We went to the new SKYPAC (performing arts center) in downtown Tuesday night to see Elmo and friends.  Jeff and I were very impressed and excited to have such a nice venue here in town.

It was a fun night!

PS.  What happened to my baby named Luke?  He looks so big

PPS.  JJ is a total goofball

Since When?

Since when in March is it in the high 70's and 80's every single day?!

I have lost count of how many times we've been to one of our parks in the past couple of weeks.  They have been very excited to play outside so much!  How awesome!
We've long since retired our winter coats, sweaters and even jeans, exchanging them for flip flops, shorts sleeveless tops.  Here's hoping cold weather is gone until, say November?!

Learning Curve

Last week, I had the chance to go to Sydney's school for a meeting with her teachers about her progress.  She knows and can write all her letters and numbers.  She knows all the shapes they asked her about (7) and all of the (11) colors listed on the assessment. She could even read the (color) words Red, Blue, Green, Orange and Pink.  Her self portrait is horrible...ha!  (Just had to point that out, since she comes by that so honestly)

Her teachers talked to me about how smart and sweet she was, giving me examples/stories that I enjoyed.  They talked about how well she follows direction, and I told them that was great because she does have a stubborn streak too.  They agreed with me :) and have seen this at times, especially telling me that she "goes into her shell" when the other kids are being too rowdy.  I thought that was pretty funny.  They also told me that she was definitely ready for the big move up to Kindergarten.

I know she's going to love it, but it's hard for me to believe we are only a few months away.

I can see her gaining more and more confidence all the time.  These pictures I took of her last week show just one example of that.

The funniest part of the assessment were the answers Sydney gave to some of the questions.  Here are a few of my favorites:

Q: How old are you?
A: 4 1/2

Q: What is your mother's name?
A: Mommy and Jessica

Q: What does your Mommy do?
A: chores and other things

Q: Do you have any brothers and sisters?
A: I have a brother.  Two brothers.  One is zero                        :)

Q:What does a police officer do?
A: Put people in jail

Q: What is a family?
A: Loves people

We are very proud of our sweet daughter!

One More Day: Magic Kingdom

We spent the last day of our trip at Magic Kingdom.  I was so thankful that Jeff was feeling better and almost back to himself.  I was also thankful that everyone else was feeling pretty good and going strong at the end of a fun (but long and tiring) week.

We started off the morning eating breakfast before park open at Crystal Palace with Winnie the Pooh and Friends.  As far as food, we enjoyed Crystal Palace more than anywhere else we ate during the week.  Due to sickness, we missed a reservation for a character meal at Ohana on Thursday, so we also had dinner at Crystal Palace on our last day.

AND, SG and JJ are very much!!! into Winnie the Pooh right now, so they were super excited to be there with Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet for two seperate meals on the same day.

This just might be my favorite picture of my JJ from the entire trip.
More pictures with friends from breakfast and dinner:

                           Poor Luke...torture, I tell you.

This was Luke's face when he wasn't around the characters shortly after breakfast.

Most of the rest of the day (until dinner), we spent riding all of the things we enjoy the most.  However, JJ wanted to see Woody again, and my Ariel wanted to see Ariel one more time.
In the afternoon, everyone went to the room to rest except for me and SG and JJ.
Sydney is holding one of the snacks we shared.  Pretty sure there's not a cooler pretzel out there!

After dinner, we staked out our favorite spot to watch the Main Street Electrical Parade and Wishes.

Sydney and JJ went all day long every day of the trip, and did not fall asleep until bedtime except for the very last night when we were on our way out of the park.  I guess it was time to go home  :)
We was a great week and we look forward to taking them again in the next few years when Luke (and they) are older, but we were definitely ready to come back home!

In remembering this trip, I will think about how sweet and innocent my Sydney was.  Oh, how she loved to meet princess after princess!  Both of my kids loved having their grandparents with us.  Other highlights of her trip included dressing up, watching the night time parade and Fantasmic and riding Winnie the Pooh, Splash Mountain and Toy Story Mania.

I will think about how happy and good JJ was on this trip.  His obedience and contagious smile- day after long day was amazing.  He was one awesome two year old!  Other highlights of his trip included meeting and hugging all of his favorite characters, BuzzWoodyride, the train, Jungle Cruise, fireworks, and parades.

I will remember how sweet Lukey was, and how much he enjoyed watching the characters...when they were far away from him!  He has spoiled us over the last 14 months by being such a good baby, and he adjusted to the hectic schedule quite well.  His favorite things seemed to be the shows with music and dancing and the happy (not dark!) rides.  He did not cry on the dark rides, but he would bury his head into our chest.

Jeff loved watching the kids in their excitement of meeting the characters, Toy Story Mania, Fantasmic, and fireworks the best. He was an awesome Fastpass runner :)

I will remember how blessed I am to have six amazing people as a part of my life-my favorite part of the trip was enjoying sweet times with them.  I adored watching Sydney and JJ and capturing special moments on camera.  Between myself and our Photopass, we had over 1,000 photos to go through when we got home!  And besides just watching them with their favorite characters, the things I enjoyed most were Splash Mountain and the Main Street Electrical Parade.

I pray that God provides health and time for more special memories for our crew.

Day 6 : Hollywood Studios take 2

Heading into the week, Thursday was our open day and the kids loved Hollywood Studios and wanted to return.  It was another very fun day, but I was sad because my sweetheart was sick...very sick.  God has blessed him with such good health and it is very rare for him to be sick.

Wednesday night he started feeling bad as we were leaving Epcot.  By the time we put the kids to bed, he was very sick for the next 5-6 hours almost nonstop. He said he never remembers feeling that bad before, and I know for a fact that he hasn't been anywhere close to that sick in the last 16 plus years.  It.was.sad.  And we were away from home which really stinks too.

By morning, he was feeling a bit better but broke a fever and was so weak.  He  stayed in the room to rest and begin recooperating.

The six of us had a good day-we took JJ to meet Buzz and Woody again.  He is really into all of the Toy Story stuff, and even more after the trip.

He (we) also rode "buzzwoodyride" 4 times, and we also caught our favorite shows, the afternoon parade and by 6:00 or so, Daddy felt well enough to join us for Fantasmic.

Sydney and JJ had a great day but missed him like me.  At one point, Sydney said "Mommy, we are having so much fun, but we would be having so much more fun with Daddy here."  Absolutely sweetheart!  And I was ready for my man to be back to normal.  By Friday, he was much closer-we were ready for another day at Magic Kingdom for the last day of our trip.

Day 5 at Epcot

Wednesday we went to Epcot.  Epcot is a place that Jeff and the kids had never been, and I had not been since I was 8 years old.  Nana and Buddy were there the last time just a few years ago.

First we rode Soarin and a couple others, and then headed to have breakfast with the "Princesses of Norway," hosted by Belle.  We met her on the way into the dining room. After we went to our table, we were visited by Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, and Snow White during the meal.  This was another time of the trip that Sydney just loved.

During the princess parade, Sydney pushed found her way to the front of Sleeping        Beauty's line and held her hand.
After breakfast, we rode a couple of boat rides & made our way around the countries in the World Showcase, stopping to see some friends and enjoy the sites along the way.

Two of my favorite pictures of the entire trip coming here...

They love each other so much

Sydney wanted to meet Jasmine, so we stopped in "Morocco" to do that.
As I posted before, JJ kept telling us that he didn't like princesses because he was a boy.  However, he was happy to meet Aladdin (he said "I see the boy") who was with Princess Jasmine.
As you can see, he decided Jasmine was okay too :)

My Snow White was excited to go see Snow White and JJ was looking for the Dwarfs too.

No dwarfs here, but we found Snow White at the wishing well.
Looks like to me he's happy to see her too.
Pictures with two different princesses in one day!

A neat thing going on during the time we were visiting was Epcot's Annual Flower & Garden Festival.  The topiaries and flowers made for some pretty cool landscape photos.

Before we left Epcot for the evening, we rode a few other rides, visited Nemo & Crush, ate some dinner and visited Mickey & Pluto.

We had a good day at Epcot, but overall enjoyed Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios much more.  Thursday (the next day) was our open day of the week and the kids chose to return to Hollywood Studios.  JJ wanted to see Buzz and Woody again and ride the "BuzzWoodyride".  Sydney decided that Toy Story Mania (and Splash Mountain) was her favorite ride too and we were looking forward to those things and seeing Fantasmic once again.

We left Epcot and returned to the room to get some rest for the next day with Buzz and Woody!
